OUR U-14 Boys hosted a strong side from Gort over the weekend in the final match of the Cup Pool stage. They displayed excellent teamwork, and in the opening minutes, Charlie Butler got over the line to score the hosts' first try. Shortly afterwards, Gort equalised, but Ballina fought back hard, going on the attack, which paid off when Conor Flynn scored a try.
The home side kept the pressure on, and a few minutes later Flynn went over the try-line again to score his second.
Ballina didn't slacken off in the second half, with Donnchadh Heverin getting over the line for try number four, and this was followed shortly afterwards by a try from Darragh Devers, with Bran Beglane successfully converting to take the seven points.
An excellent Gort side never slackened and kept the pressure on, scoring two more tries, both of which were converted. The score at the final whistle was 27-19.
Well done to all involved.
