A proud moment occurred at Heffernan Park recently when a cheque for €1500 was handed over to CEO of Western Alzheimers Association, Pat Holmes.
Present on the evening were; Stephen Lacken Head coach of our U-18 Girls squad; Ailish Quinn a proud member of our U-18 team last year, winner of the Inter-Provincial championship with Connacht and the Irish team captain in the Six Nations; our club President Ed Gunning; Past President Deirdre Whyte; CEO Western Alzheimers Pat Holmes; Ballina, Connacht and Ireland player Emily Foley, who also won the Inter-Pros with Connacht and played in the Six Nations with Ireland, and John Carroll.
The funds donated were raised at the club's 'Celebration of Girls Rugby' event held a few weeks ago, and are in remembrance and recognition of the club's past-coach and dear friend, Ann Carroll.
It was fitting that Ann's husband, John, was in attendance for the presentation on an evening when sport, family and community merged as one.
