We absolutely delighted to announce that our own Deirdre Whyte has been appointed as 'Womens Rugby Lead for Club and Community' by Connacht Rugby.
This is a highly-prestigious and important role in the continued development of female rugby throughout the province and Deirdre is the ideal person to fill the position.
Deirdre famously set up Girls Rugby in our club some years ago and has driven the development of the female game with great passion, drive and desire ever since.
All at Ballina RFC are very proud of Deirdre and there have been some very nice messages echoing around the club since the news became known.
"Years of tireless work have now been rewarded," Club President Ed Gunning stated.
"Connacht are blessed and fortunate to have acquired a truly dedicated follower of rugby. Well done to our esteemed past-president," former Ballina RFC President Adrian Bourke added.
"So well-deserved. Many hours of work and effort put in to getting the female rugby in Ballina RFC off the ground. Lovely to see such dedication being recognised," commented another former Club President, Marc Loftus.
All at Ballina RFC are very proud of Deirdre and wish her the very best of luck in her new position.
